The West of England Patient Safety Collaborative is one of 15 Patient Safety Collaboratives across the UK which were set up after the Berwick report into the safety of patients in England. Priority safety areas are set by each individual collaborative to ensure they meet the local needs and have the biggest impact. Find out more about the national Patient Safety Collaborative programme in the 2017 report: A Commitment to Act.

Meeting local needs

Through our Collaborative we are facilitating local patients and healthcare staff to work together to enhance the safety of our patients whilst in healthcare services, making sure their wellbeing is paramount at all times.

We have signed up to the patient safety campaign Sign up to Safety, which is one of a set of national initiatives in England to help the NHS improve the safety of patient care. Collectively and cumulatively these initiatives aim to reduce avoidable harm by 50% and support the ambition to save 6,000 lives. Find out more here.
