As part of the national programme, you will be aware of the fundamental approach to increasing uptake of magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) within your clinical teams. This is an opportunity to revisit the work that you have to done to date and focus an amount of time to refresh the processes that have been implemented.

You may plan to identify a “squad” to take this element forward with a focus on reviewing the work that has been done to date and identifying where further improvements can be made, but ensure they are aware of the wealth of information that you already have within your unit. Encourage them to talk to the PReCePT champion midwife and work in partnership with them to refresh this pathway.

We encourage you to look across the three “capsules” of Process, Training and Education and Communications and Engagement when planning and implementing any changes, we know from experience that action needs to be taken across all three capsules to see a progress. These areas will be covered in the unit-level training.

Pay attention to how you will embed and sustain the improvements you have made and you can use the embedding and sustaining change tool to shape your thinking in doing so.
