Created in partnership with SETsquared, the global no.1 university business incubator, the West of England AHSN has been running the Health Innovation Programme (HIP) since 2015. In that time this popular personal development boot camp for healthcare innovators has supported 99 people from across the West of England build their core skills in entrepreneurship to develop their products and services for the NHS.
We recently caught up with 28 companies from our HIP alumni (or HIPsters) to find out how they’ve been getting on and are pleased to report some brilliant successes:
- Over £2.7 million of private investment has been raised by four of the 28 companies interviewed from a variety of sources, included high-net-worth individuals, angel investment and venture capitals.
- £463,000 of grant funding has been secured by seven of the 28 companies from different grant sources, including Innovate UK and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
- 43% of the innovations are now commercialised and generating revenue.
- 15 new full-time positions and four new part-time positions have been created across seven of the 28 companies.
