Impact review 2020-21: The West of England Academy

I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for delivering the Quality Improvement Winter Series. I am very new to working in this area but I found the training really engaging and useful and you balanced pace and the learning of new information brilliantly.

Our West of England Academy provides a range of free resources to help health and care innovators gain knowledge and develop essential skills for innovative thinking and working. We promote the use of quality improvement methodologies to support delivery of better patient care.

The Academy is for all health and care professionals, front line, support services and commissioners, plus academics and innovators living, working or planning to work in the West of England.

We cover the full innovation journey, from gaining a greater understanding of specific opportunities, developing creative ideas, prototyping and testing of solutions through to gathering evidence to support implementation and spread of solutions and evaluation of the benefits. Free resources to support each stage of the innovation journey are available on our website.

Last year all our Academy courses were run successfully online with 1,182 delegates attending our events. Watch our short video below to hear why people love the Academy.

Our programme included emotional resilience for managers, a summer and winter quality improvement (QI) series, sustainability in QI, introductions to human factors, psychology for QI, coaching for QI, and human-centred product design.

To accompany a series of workshops on the adoption and spread of healthcare innovations and improvements, the Academy published a practical guide. Download the guide here.
