In light of COVID-19 pandemic, this event (ReSPECT – Having the Conversation) is a time to reflect on recent experiences in Gloucestershire and discuss how best to provide education going forward. We will share some learning from feedback and there will be time to discuss next steps. We are running four repeated 1.5 hour online training sessions for Gloucestershire Care Homes, Learning Disability Care providers, Domiciliary Care providers and GPs.Please register your attendance at one of the following sessions (maximum 2 staff members from each organisation):

  • Session 1 – 9.30am—11am
  • Session 2 – 11.30am—1pm
  • Session 3 – 1.30pm—3pm
  • Session 4 – 3.30pm—5pm

Please note that these are repeated sessions and so all cover the same content.

ReSPECT (Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment) is a process where a person and their healthcare team talk together and work out a personalised plan for potential future emergency treatment – to ensure that the person receives the best possible treatment for their individual situation. The healthcare team have the medical knowledge of what different emergency treatments might be helpful – but it is very useful to know a person’s priorities and viewpoints on these emergency treatments in advance. This is particularly important in a future crisis situation where people may be too unwell to express their opinion.
