Event summary

We are pleased to offer a series of free webinars focusing on the clinical management of Blood Pressure. The 90-minute webinars will be delivered by Dr Angus Nightingale, Cardiologist, Bristol Heart Institute and Ola Howell, Pharmacist Clinical Lead, West of England AHSN.

These sessions are open to anyone working in healthcare who is interested in blood pressure optimisation, but are aimed at clinicians working in Primary Care.

The AHSN is leading a Blood Pressure Optimisation Programme as part of a suite of initiatives around Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (CVD) aiming to prevent heart attacks, strokes, and vascular dementia in patients with hypertension.

Treatment of high blood pressure and high cholesterol substantially lower the risk of CVD. Despite this, both risk factors are underdiagnosed and undertreated. Around 30% of people with hypertension are unaware of their condition, and the pre-pandemic Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) data showed that around one third of people with diagnosed hypertension are not treated to QOF target, with substantial variation across the country.

Working collaboratively with colleagues in our regional Integrated Care System (ICS) teams we are supporting case finding for hypertension using the UCLPartners Proactive Care Frameworks.

Why attend?

Delegates will:

  • be able to run case finding and risk stratification searches using the UCLProactive Care Framework search tools
  • feel more confident in clinically managing hypertension cases

Delegates should register for either the 6 or 20 October, they do not need to attend both events.
